When we first set out to build our vertical clay pot garden for Whole Foods Market, we half-jokingly said we’d take it on a world tour, starting with the balconies of our friends Jill and Tim. Well, we had no idea the places our pots would go! Earlier this year they were featured in Better Homes & Gardens. The pots have racked up over 10,000 pins on Pinterest.
And now, this DIY is headed to an audience in Santa Monica: Ryan and I will be demonstrating exactly how to make a vertical clay pot installation during this month’s grand opening celebration of Potted @Lazybones.
Westsiders, rejoice! Potted—the leafy Atwater Village/Los Feliz shop dedicated to the art of outdoor living since 2004—is expanding to Santa Monica. The second location will be at the Lazybones shop on Main Street. Not in the area? Potted also has a bustling online store, where you’ll find its famed circle pots among many other chic, cheerful planters, furniture and gifts.
Potted’s original location is an Eastside pocket of serenity that reflects the vibrant point of view of its owners, Mary Gray and Annette Goliti Gutierrez, who have backgrounds in set design, art direction and garden/home renovation. We can’t wait to see how they translate their vibe along the coast!
The Santa Monica grand opening is happening Memorial Day weekend, Saturday May 28 through Monday May 30, from 10 am to 6 pm all three days. We’ll be doing our demo on Saturday at 3 pm. There will be colorful pottery. There will be power tools. Special guest/our close garden friend Warren Keller will be joining us, planting some enchanting succulents in the pots and demonstrating how to arrange and care for them.
The event is going to be three days of fun and inspiration for garden and design lovers, with tarot readings, native plant and farm box discussions and demos, and free air plants given away to the first 50 people every day. In the giveaway department, Ryan and I have our eye on a dreamy Fermob chair up for grabs.
We’d love to see you there!
