On Stands Now: Our Feature in ‘Country Gardens’ Magazine

A sign that warmer days are around the corner: the Early Spring 2016 issue of Country Gardens is out! And guess whose L-shaped garden received some love?

Ryan and I are super pumped to be featured in the “Style & Substance” story in the magazine, a special title under the Better Homes & Gardens umbrella. The eight-page feature wonderfully captures the plant life, history and personalities of our yard. Thank you to Ed Gohlich for the spectacular photos! Thank you to Karen Reinecke for your production and styling magic. Thank you to Marty Ross for a story full of spark, curiosity and graceful turns of phrase.

Here’s Ed Gohlich working his photographic magic. The shoot took place in early October of 2014 — yes, almost a year and a half ago. Notice how bare our cactus wall was back then!

Yers truly last night. See how much the epiphyllums and other cacti have filled in. Flowers just weeks away…

We’re pinching ourselves more than a bed full of poppies right now. Find us on page 30 of the mag; we’re honored to be in the same issue as the inaugural column of Away to Garden’s Margaret Roach, and a gorgeous spread on gloxinias written by gesneriad master Elvin McDonald. The former garden editor of BHG, McDonald founded the American Gloxinia Society when he was 14 years old, during the early 1950s.

For the full story, grab this issue from a newsstand (or mailbox — ideally your own) near you!
